Amino Acid Conservation of Protein FAM151A

Download (transparent)

Surface plot based off the tertiary structure of protein FAM151A as predicted by AlphaFold2. The amino acid residues are colored according to conservation (as measured by Shannon entropy). Yellow indicates higher conservation, while purple indicates lower conservation. From this, we see the protein's two DUF2181 domains (two lobes on top and bottom) are differentially conserved, suggesting that the first (top) has a higher change of being biochemically active. Indeed, this result is consistent with previous findings that suggest that the conserved domain acts as a phosphodiesterase.
